PROGRESS PLUS, a division of Progress Housing Group, kept energy levels running high at the recent Moonlight Walk with a donation of 1500 Mars bars.
Staff from Progress's Head Office and women's refuge joined 1500 women to walk the 13 mile half marathon through Preston on Saturday 2nd June to raise funds for a local hospice.
The group completed the half marathon through the night and the event raised over £200,000 for St Catherine's Hospice.
The Moonlight Walk was organised by the hospice and sponsored by local businesses including Progress Plus, who supplied goody bags and the welcome chocolate boost at the end of the half marathon. Progress Plus was launched last November to offer local homeowners affordable central heating repairs and servicing contracts.
Sue Skelly, Senior Finance Officer at Progress Housing Group, took part in the event: 'St Catherine's Hospice is a charity that is close to the hearts of many of my friends and local people.
'They provide invaluable care to so many patients and their families during very difficult times. When I heard about the walk I had no hesitation in putting my name forward. I really enjoyed taking part, and had a great sense of achievement when I passed the finish line. '
Barbara Conroy, Events Manager at St Catherine's said: 'The sponsorship given by local companies such as Progress Plus is invaluable when planning an event. The Moonlight Walk has been a huge success because of that help and support.
'Over the years St Catherine's Hospice has grown and developed enormously, enabling us to care for many more local people each year. This care is provided both at home and in the Hospice in a variety of ways and of course, support is given to the patient's family and friends. This special care and support is beyond price for those who benefit but is only possible because of the generosity of those who give. Thank you to Progress Plus from everyone at St Catherine's Hospice.'
