STAFF FROM PROGRESS HOUSING GROUP ARE GETTING SET TO RAISE HUNDREDS OF POUNDS FOR CANCER RESEARCH AS PART OF THE NATIONAL RACE FOR LIFE EVENT

Sixteen women from the Leyland-based Housing Association will join forces with 800,000 women across the country to run 5km to help raise £60m for the charity.

Cancer Research UK's Race for Life started in 1994 and has grown to become the UK's biggest women-only fundraising event. So far, over two million women have taken part to raise over £140 million for the charity's life saving work.

Leyland Race for Life takes place on Saturday 15 th July at the town's Worden Park. It is the first time an event has been held in Leyland.

Said Janet Dalton, Head of HR, who is coordinating Progress's team effort:

'We are really proud to support Cancer Research UK's Race for Life and it's great to see that the event is at a local venue. We are hoping that, as a team, we can raise £1600 towards this worthwhile cause.'

'We would really appreciate the support from local businesses and people in the area to reach this target so if you would like to sponsor Team Progress, please get in touch on 01772 450600.'

All sponsorship money raised during the event goes towards Cancer Research UK's groundbreaking research to find out how to prevent, diagnose and treat different kinds of cancer.
