Staff from Progress Housing Group in Leyland gritted their teeth to hurtle across the River Tyne to raise over £4000 for a Leukaemia charity.
The group of ten workmates travelled to the North East's iconic Tyne Bridge at the weekend to take part in a sponsored zip slide to raise funds for the Anthony Nolan Trust. Taking off from the Newcastle side, they flew 200 metres a cross the river to land at HMS Calliope at Gateshead on the other side. The Trust provides lifesaving donors for adults and children in need of bone marrow transplants.
Says Progress's Claire Bibby , who helped coordinate the organisation's fundraising effort:
'The team worked tirelessly to raise the sponsorship amount to take part in the event and a lot of Progress staff got involved with various fundraisers. We originally set out to raise £1500 so we are absolutely over the moon that we managed to raise over £4000 for such a worthwhile cause.'
Claire is still collecting for the charity so if you would like to donate, please contact her on 01772 642146.
