Generous bosses at a local Asda supermarket donated two pallets of groceries and toys to a women's refuge as part of a Christmas Tin and Toys appeal.
Grateful staff from Progress Care collected vanloads of provisions from the Fulwood store to stock up the emergency supplies cupboards at Leyland's Refuge, Clare House, and to provide party goodies for the resident's kids.
Says Liz Stanton, Manager at the refuge: 'We are extremely grateful to Asda for helping us with such an incredible donation.
'It will go a long way in helping us to make life a bit easier for our residents . Often women arrive at the refuge with absolutely nothing and donations enable us to provide them with basic provisions until they can get back on their feet. We also rely on such generosity to enable us to throw a much needed annual Christmas party for the kids.
'Without such fantastic responses from the public and local businesses, we would really struggle to provide the residents and their families with the Christmas that they deserve.'
Progress Care owns and manages the refuge, which supports women and their families fleeing domestic abuse by providing safe accommodation and welfare services .
