LIFELINE BOOST FOR ST CATHERINES
Terminally ill people will benefit from free Lifeline equipment thanks to Leyland's Round Table. A £200 donation from the organisation has funded the purchase of two Lifeline units, which will be loaned free of charge to people returning home from respite at St Catherine's Hospice.
Lifeline is a personal emergency response system that enables older adults, the physically challenged, and seriously ill people to remain independent and more confident in their own homes through the use of technology. Specially adapted telephone units and pendant alarms provide direct link up to Lifeline staff in the event of an emergency. Almost 2,000 people now benefit from the service, which is managed by New Progress Housing Association.
Says Lifeline Officer, Karen Cowley: 'Our thanks goes to Leyland Round Table for this generous donation. It will make a significant difference to the lives of seriously ill people who want to remain in their own homes but need extra support and reassurance.'
'We are always grateful for local businesses who are able to sponsor the units as it enables us to offer even more people and their families peace of mind at such a difficult time.'
