Environment

Progress has a strong commitment to environmental issues and in particular ensuring that outdoor spaces are safe and ecologically sound and are free from vandalism and fly tipping. Regular clean up operations take place within community to clear green spaces from debris and overgrowth.

To mark the Group's 10th anniversary in 2004, and as a lasting gift to the community of South Ribble, Progress Housing Group made a commitment to sponsor the planting of a major cross-borough woodland scheme, with cycle-paths and walkways, linking many of the New Progress neighbourhoods. This major project is currently underway and it is hoped that the first stage will be completed in 2007.

New Progress Housing Association has also introduced a caretaker service on the Wade Hall estate as a pilot scheme to help residents to improve the estate. The Estate Caretaker is based at Wade Hall to improve the neighbourhood by dealing with fly tipping and graffiti, carrying out minor outside repairs and looking after empty properties. Residents can report repairs to him and he will generally keep the estate clean and tidy.

As an organisation, we promote the adage recycle, reuse and reduce as much as we can. Recycled hardcore and roofing tiles from maintenance and building projects recently helped refurbish a community cricket club in Leyland, and staff regularly recycle household and unwanted items with donations to the our two homeless schemes and Women's Refuge.
